SHP Police Officers Probed

Southern Highlands Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Daniel Yangen said the police officers are not allowed to take part in doing campaigns for any candidates when in police uniforms or using police properties.

PPC Yangen made this call after a police officer was involved in an argument that lead to damages of properties.

The police boss said the other incident is still under investigation and police will soon make arrests.

SHP Police Prepares To Get It Right

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Inspector Daniel Yangen, who recently taken over the command, said he needs these important details before he can commence pre-election and election-proper security operations.

“We have on record 224 policemen and women in the Southern Highlands Province. However, I will have to conduct a manpower audit to confirm whether this number is actually present in the province. Parades will be conducted in the following week to cross check names to ensure the current manpower list of 224 are actually on the ground,” Mr Yangen said.

SHP alcohol ban still in place

The liquor ban operations in the province will continue on into the New Year celebrations and festivities.

Southern Highlands Provincial Police commander Sibron Potape says the ban was imposed by the provincial government in 2010 and still stands.

Police will not accept anyone found with any form of alcohol in or around the communities.

Anyone caught to be in possession of any sort of alcohol will face a fine of K1,000 or serve one year in prison.
