PNGTPA acknowledges Late Sir Peter

The Late Sir Peter was the owner of Melanesian Tourist Services.

PNGTPA said: “With the greatest respect, we acknowledge his outstanding services to the people of Madang Province and Papua New Guinea.   

“He contributed immensely to the development of Tourism in Papua New Guinea and was always vocal about improving tourism within the economic sector in the country.  

Sir Peter Barter Echoes Concern

He said the low rate of vaccination in the country has affected the social and economic sectors.

“Social media and some irresponsible media releases being aired has resulted in much of the confusion resulting in PNG being the lowest vaccinated country in the world which will directly affect the social and economic future of most Papua New Guineans.”

Sir Peter Barter also raised concern that the tourism industry has been hit hard by the pandemic and now with the low rate of vaccinated population.

Sir Peter urges Madang MPs to work together

He said being a former Governor and Minister of the state, he always refrains from making comments on sitting MPs but urged them to work together and develop the province.

He said the MPs have been elected by the people and they must bring services to the people who mandated them.

Meantime, Sir Peter also raised concerns that Madang and the country as a whole is not really attracting good investors into the country.

He said the influx of Asians in Madang have raised eyebrows as to how they have entered the province.

Sir Peter thanks PM for APEC meet

Sir Peter however, exclusively told this newsroom that Madang has never been getting good media attention on what is happening in the province.

“The image of Madang has suffered very much over the past years.”

He said Madang deserves better as it is a very beautiful province in the country and such bad publicities cannot help in terms of tourism benefits to the province.

“I was very happy for the Prime Minister, who kept his promise and allowed for the APEC meeting in our province.”

Sir Peter opens new Modilon Hospital operating theatre

A colourful ceremony accompanied with traditional singings by groups from Madang and other parts of the country added extra flare and spectacle to the opening of the new health facility.

The new operating theatre located in the heart of the Modilon Hospital premises is much bigger and better equipped to serve the people of Madang and PNG. The facility accommodates four operating rooms,two sterilizing rooms,medical store and nursing bay  and boasts its own stand-by power generator and water supply among others。
