Sampari Exhibition and Art Sale coming to a close soon

This is the second year of the event which gives artists a chance to speak on behalf of their Melanesian brother’s struggle for freedom.

The exhibition started last Saturday night, December 2, held at the Australian Catholic University Art Gallery, in Melbourne.

The event has already featured a variety of activities including “Forthspeak” Spoken Word Artist Event last Saturday and “Saluting Melanesia” Cultural Day on Sunday.

The main aim of the exhibition is to raise awareness of the West Papuan peoples wish for independence and right to self-determination.

Melbourne exhibition extends invitation to PNG artists

Sampari is a visual arts exhibition raising awareness about the struggle for freedom of the West Papuan people.

This exposition will open on December 2-11at the Australian Catholic University Art Gallery, in Melbourne.

The inaugural Sampari 2015 attracted glass works, contemporary collage, printing, wirework, photography, film, traditional weaving, mixed media, street sculpture and oil paintings. Half the works were sold during the exhibition.
