According to the post, a young girl was travelling in a bus with six men when she sent a text to the brother who was allegedly a soldier from Goldie Barracks telling him she was in a bus with six other men but she was later raped and killed by the six men.

The brother after receiving the text allegedly waited with some soldiers a turn off section of the highway but when the bus arrived, the girl was nowhere to be found.

It was alleged that the soldiers shot all six men and disposed of their body.

A vehicle was also given to kick-start the program.

These reserves are now enlisted into the reserve list of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary  (RPNGC).

Acting Commissioner of Police Jim Andrews said these eight members are part of their organisation and will abide by their rules and regulations even they are employed by their employer.

Trukai Industries Limited chief executive officer Worthington Eyre said that was the first batch of selected Trukai Security personnel undertook the police reserve course and will serve the community.

PNGDF Brigadier Commander, Gilbert Toropo says that the PNGDF will not tolerate such actions from its soldiers and that those who were involved in the assault of the NCD Metropolitan Superintendent and his men will be dealt with accordingly.

Commander Toropo in support of the call made by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill says firm action will be taken against those individuals who have broken the law and violated their codes of conduct.

Investigations have already begun and once completed, the soldiers will face the full wrath of the law.

The three week training was funded by the Australian Defense Force and facilitated by an Australian Company; Explosive Protective Equipment.

Members from the RPNGC, PNGDF and PNGCS who took part and were trained under bomb specialists received certificates of course completion.

Under the Joint Task Force- APEC Security, Defence Corporation Program Lieutenant Colonel Campbell Paine says in terms of the skills, course and training that the officers have done, this is money well spent for the development of this important skill.

A three-day workshop on Human Trafficking Victim identification & SOP Implementation Training conducted by the International Organization of Migration (IOM) and the Department of Justice and Attorney General   identified cases of human trafficking in PNG following recent increase of trafficking in the country.

Officer in Charge for Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Joe Puana said the workshop is an eye opener for police as what was covered by IOM trainers “were some things that we didn’t think was related to human trafficking or smuggling”.

This is the start of a three week series of courses being run to prepare the PNGDF combined with the Police and the Correction Service to be able to conduct the task of search of any major event that the country will conduct in the future.

Under the Joint Task Force- APEC Security, Defence Corporation Program Lieutenant Colonel Campbell Paine says this week was basic of search course training  and next week will be a series of training activities that will see the trainees to be team leaders to lead a small group of men to conduct search.

"This training is aimed at preparing us for the 2018 APEC Meeting," a police officer told Loop PNG.

Areas covered in the training are all aimed at providing the best security at all cost.

Those in attendance are a selected few from the public safety and special services division from the Kokopo, Tomaringa and Kerevat RPNGC unit.

"There are seven female officers and 25 male officers," said Constable Merelyne Matiung.

The Australian Federal Police is taking the lead in this training, which is scheduled to end on Friday, August 19.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nema Mondiai this week visited Chimbu Province, followed by Jiwaka and Western Highlands.

The trip was to familiarise himself with policing within his command.

On Sunday he visited Chuave, Monday he was at Gembogl and on Tuesday he was at Gumine, followed by Kerowagi yesterday.

He will be at Minj and Nondugl today and Friday at Banz and Jimi respectively, before returning back to Mount Hagen over the weekend and prepare for the Western Highlands leg of the tour.

A joint committee for security has been created for security operations during the World Cup.

This comprises of the PNG Defence Force, Customs, National Airport Corporation, Department of Transport, the National Maritime and Safety Authority, National Security Advisory Council, PNG Fire Service, NCDC and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) as the lead agency for public safety and security plans.

Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Seamus Marten said preparations are going according to schedule.

Speaking to police officers during the Metropolitan Superintendent Midyear parade, Lae Police Boss Anthony Wagambie Jnr say police must maintain law and order to ensure that investments thrive.

“Investments will help create more jobs which will get people off the streets,” Wagambie Jnr says.

He says investments and workers’ pay tax to the government and this tax will later be used by the government to provide basic services to our people.

He added that as police officer must look at the broader picture on our importance and must perform to the expected standards.
