Wins to Muruks, Tigers and Lahanis

In Mendi, the Muruks def. Waghi Tumbe 26-0 while across in Wabag, the Tigers def. EPG Enga Mioks 14-8.

In Goroka, the Lahanis def. NCDC Port Moresby Vipers 12-8.

The match in Port Moresby saw Agmark Rabaul Gurias draw with Kroton Hela Wigmen 22-22.

The fullbacks from both sides scored the first two tries of the match with Konie Bernard crossing over for the Gurias and Junior Rau for the Wigmen minutes later.

After the first ten minutes, the Gurias started to dominate, keeping the Wigmen in their own half.

With playmaker Stanley Olo directing play, the Gurias hit the lead again after Olo sent Eliakim Lukara racing in to score in the 24th minute.

The back end of the first half saw scrappy play with poor ball handling from the two teams.

Morris out; Abavu in for Norths Devils clash

Hunters coach, Michael Marum said Abavu who sat out last Sunday’s match due to suspension starts on the wing in place of Butler Morris.

“We are still trying out new combinations on the edges. Stargroth Amean played exceptionally well on his return at fullback so Bland Abavu will start on the wing.

“Paul Wawa retains his spot on the other wing while Butler Morris will be rested this weekend,” said Marum.

Marum said Noel Joel, Ismael Balkawa and Karo Kauna Jnr have been named in the extended 20 man squad.
