Resumption of Schools

Teachers concerned with transport for students

They have requested NCD to provide the APEC buses to pick up students from the main bus stops.

They raised these queries during an NCD Teachers dialogue on Friday, May 1st 2020.

It was back to business this week with public servants back to work and city residents going about their daily routines. The State Controller had relaxed some of the restrictions starting this week. Buses were back on the road but are only carrying 15 passengers as per SOE directives.

Schools claim, they are yet to receive their share of funding

Funding constrains has left schools in an awkward situation as to how they will be able to improve some of their facilities and infrastructure suitable for the current pandemic and State of Emergency.

Minister for Education Joseph Yopyyopy, recently announced that the government had released K50 million to all schools.

“The government had released K50 million for schools to install hand basin and other hygiene equipment for students. More funding will be released soon”, said Minister Yopyyopy.
