PNGRFL condemns attack on Dr Kendino

Chief Executive Officer, Reatau Rau said Dr Kendino was at the Paradise Hospital to pick up medical reports for some SP Hunters players when he was held up and shot at by thugs.

“We condemn this attack on the well- respected doctor in the strongest possible term.

“And we hope the criminals are caught and given the punishment they deserve.”

 “He is in a stable condition and his fellow doctors at Port Moresby General Hospital are attending to him,” Rau said.

​PNG prop overlooked due to police matter

CEO of the PNG Rugby Football League, Reatau Rau, said this in a brief statement after the announcement of the SP Hunters 20-man squad yesterday afternoon.

 “And until this matter has been dealt with, there will be no further comment,” said Rau.

In Noki's place to take on the Ipswich Jets this Saturday will be Wellington Albert.

44 confirmed for PNGRFL AGM

CEO of the PNGRFL, Reatau Rau said the 44 leagues comprising of 13 from Southern, four from New Guinea Islands, 16 from Highlands and 11 from Northern Confederates have met all affiliation criteria for 2016 and complied with the PNGRFL constitutional requirements.

“The forty-four leagues have fulfilled and met all constitutional requirements and their Presidents are qualified and eligible to attend the AGM set for Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10am at the Lae International Hotel in Morobe Province,” said Rau.

New PNGRFL boss looking forward to challenge

Rau was the treasurer of the PNGRFL since 2012 until his official appointment as CEO last night.

“It’s going to be an interesting journey. I am looking forward to the challenge.

“Being on the board for the last three years, I was part and parcel of the governance restructuring of the PNGRFL as treasurer.

“I was also in charge of the finance and audit committee of the PNGRFL and we since 2013 until now have done a lot of reformation, a lot of restructuring.

Reatau Rau is new PNGRFL CEO

The news of his appointment was made public today at a press conference at the Ela Beach Hotel in Port Moresby.

In attendance were the Directors from all four rugby league confederates (New Guinea Islands, Northern, Southern and Highlands) and PNGRFL board member, Graham Osborne.

Chairman of the PNGRFL, Sandis Tsaka explained that board made the decision to appoint Rau after its fourth and final meeting last night.

PNGRFL: It’s business as usual

Rau who is also the treasurer of the PNGRFL was appointed as the Interim Administrator of the PNGRFL to ensure stability and continuity after the termination of former CEO, Bob Cutmore.

“For any arrangements that are currently going for the SP Hunters and Kumuls, there are people in place with interim team leaders set up to make sure things run smoothly.

“Around them and with them are capable people doing the job. The only thing missing right now is a new CEO which is being pursued right now.
