PANGU supports GG elect

Prime Minister and PANGU Pati Leader, James Marape said this after Sir Bob polled 71 votes to finish ahead of former Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Winnie Kiap, with 33 votes.

The other candidate was former Manus premier and then Governor, Steven Pokawin.

“For continuity and stability, when our Head of State is working well, PANGU and coalition partners gave our support to Sir Bob.

Sir Julius retains seat

Provincial Returning Officer, Ivan Lakatani, declared the province’s longest serving politician just before lunch time today. He has been in politics for over 50 years. 

He was declared with a total of 24,892 votes, making him the only member for the province to be re-elected this election.

Sir J polled over 1,600 votes ahead of runner up and National Alliance party candidate, Michael Singan.

The founder of the People’s Progress Party’s win now brings the party tally to three.
