Queensland and Northern Territory tour

Second part of tour to start on Tuesday

The Barras flew in to Darwin today after a winless campaign in Queensland.

First up is the two day match against Northern Territory Invitational scheduled for Tuesday 12- Wednesday 13.

“It can be tough when you are not winning. As we have spoken about, we need to make sure we are learning from everything we do in every match, every situation, every training session and every review of the performances. Come Scotland, we will be as well prepared as we can be,” said Consultant Coach, Jason Gillespie.

Barras coach: We are learning

From the six matches played so far on the Queensland and Northern Territory tour, the Barras have yet to register a win with five losses and one draw.

“There were some positives, yes. We spoke about improving our discipline with the ball and our energy and effort in the field. It was very pleasing to see development in those areas,” said Gillespie.

Barras to play Australia Indigenous today

The Barras are winless so far having lost to Australia Indigenous and Cricket Australia’s National Performance Squad. The Barras managed to force a draw with Australia Indigenous.

The current tour is in preparation for the ICC Intercontinental Cup (ICUP)/World Cricket League Championships (WCLC) Round 6 fixture against Scotland.

The event will be held in Port Moresby from October 1-8.

The Barras are currently sitting in fourth place on 40 points in the ICUP standings after five rounds. They are in second place in the WCLC standings on 14 points after five rounds.

Gillespie happy with Barras’ performance

The Barras are currently in Australia on the Queensland and Northern Territory tour.

They played the Australian Indigenous side on Monday this week, falling by 84 runs and again yesterday, but this time forcing a draw.

“It was a great match that ended in a tie with an improved performance in most areas by the Barramundis.

“There were some good lessons that we can take into our next game. Our opposition showed us that with two set batsmen going into the last 15 overs of the innings can really push your innings forward.
