Queen’s Baton Relay to reach PNG

The Queen’s Baton will be in PNG from December 1-5. The Baton will transit straight through to Kimbe, West New Britain Province, to prepare for the closing ceremony of the PNG Games on December 2.

Prior to making its appearance at the closing ceremony, the Baton will pay a visit to iconic sights of Kimbe town, including the New Britain Palm Oil Plantation. It will then make its way to Kimbe town where Baton bearers will take it through the streets of Kimbe town towards the Sasi Muthuvel Stadium.

Queen’s Baton to arrive in PNG December, 2017

The Relay will start at Buckingham Palace on Monday March 13, 2017, which is Commonwealth Day and begin its journey around the Commonwealth.

The Baton will travel for 388-days and spend between two and four days in each nation and territory, making the Relay the longest in Commonwealth Games history.

The Baton will go to the Solomon Islands on Saturday December 6, before arriving in PNG on Saturday 9 where it will spend nearly a week.

After PNG, the Baton will head to Norfolk Island on Friday December 15, continuing its journey.
