Public servants netball comp nears end

This Saturday will see the last two games of Round 2 as the competition begins the knock outs next week.

Games will be doubled up again this weekend to speed up the competition in all divisions.

Public servants’ netball executives and players have all been commended for making the effort to turn up on time for matches.

The competition has been a success so far with seven divisions closing in on the top four teams.

Matches will start at 10am on Saturday 10th February.

Public servants netball comp set for tomorrow

Finance currently leads the points table in the premiere division followed by works and NHC.

Most games were forfeited last Saturday and slow starts after the festive season break but the public servants match committee are adamant to get matches into full swing tomorrow at the Rita Flynn netball courts.

In the premiere division at 1pm, NFA is drawn against NBC after last week’s double forfeit between NBC and NHC.

NHC win premier division netball grand final

A near full capacity crowd rocked up to the Rita Flynn Indoor Courts to watch the main game of the day, and were not disappointed.

It was a seesawing affair with both sides neck and neck for most of the match.

For NHC, they had PNG Pepers player, Jeperth Tulapi leading the charge, while NFA’s shooters in Kathreen Dimore and Stacy Haeremai proved they had plenty of points in them.

At half-time, NHC had their noses in front with the score at 14-8.

NFA (1) beat NBC in extra time of netball major semi-final

It was a game that was predicted to go right down to the wire at the Rita Flynn courts, and at half-time, the score line of 11-10 in favour of NFA proved just this.

Shooters from both sides kept the scoreboard ticking over and at the full time siren; it was a deadlock at 20-20.

This forced the game into extra time of five minutes each way.

The NFA girls pushed ahead in the first half of extra time thanks to shooters Stacey Haeremai and Cathy Dimore who gave their side some breathing space to lead 25-22.
