ABG satisfied with refinery deal

Toroama made this statement during the recent signing of a shareholders agreement with the Bougainville Refinery Limited (BRL) in Buka.

Toroama stressed that BRL is one project that will highlight and give assurance to investors coming into Bougainville, adding that under the 60/40 arrangement, 40 percent for the government and its people will be broken further to drive independence aspirations and also to set up a sovereign wealth fund.

ABG Does Not Support Musingku: President

ABG President, Ishmael Toroama, emphasised that his government does not support Noah Musingku and his U-Vistract faction, nor do they condone their activities on Bougainville.

“I was vehemently clear on this matter when I visited Tonu with an ABG delegation last year,” the President said in a statement.

“There is no evidence to show that they are supporting Bougainvilleans through agricultural projects, homeownership schemes and subsidising school fees for students with their illegal tender, the so-called Bougainville Kina.

Panguna LOs Challenged

President Toroama made this statement when addressing the Panguna Chief Summit yesterday at Tunuru Catholic Parish in Central Bougainville.

President Toroama told the Summit that it is time for Bougainvilleans to reset themselves and align with the independence timeline.

He challenged the five Panguna clan groups to resolve and agree to an outcome that will facilitate and support the 97.7 percent vote for political independence.

ARoB’s 2022 Budget

He said the Bougainville Executive Council had passed the budget framework in April this year, and this framework is based on the Government’s six-point strategy, of which independence (political control) is number one.
