United Sisters retain softball title

Runs scored by Priscilla Mocke and Florence Daple put United Sisters in front at 2-0 after the completion of the first inning.

United Sisters took things up a notch with their batting in the second inning piling on four more runs with a display of power batting from Mocke, Daple and Georgina Mautu.

Bears seemed to have no answers to the mother and daughter combination of Selina Karai on the pitching mound and Tessa Karai at catcher.

It all looked bleak for Bears at the bottom of the third inning when the deficit increased to seven runs.

Bears and Mariners through to grand final

In the B grade division match in the morning, Mariners thrashed United Sisters 13-5. Mariners will meet with Yokomo in the grand final.

To the A grade division, Bears stomped over Wantoks 11-1 with the match called off in the fourth inning after the mercy rule was applied.

This means Bears will take on United Sisters in the grand final.

Yokomo book first spot in grand final

Jennifer Tokome scored Yokomo’s first run courtesy of a hit from Dani Boas to take a 1-0 lead at the top of the first inning in the quarter final.

Mariners hit back at their first turn at bat through a run scored by Celestine Kulutu.

Good batting from the Yokomo girls saw them take push ahead to 5-3 by the bottom of the third inning.

The fourth inning is where Yokomo unleashed their batting power piling on five runs. Mariners managed one run in the same inning, which was also their last. This put the score at 10-4.

Gazelle power over Wantoks

Gazelle scored the bulk of their runs in the first inning through some good batting that saw Regina Jerry, Matilda Pondriket, Angie Manuai and Sharon Pamel run home to score to lead 4-0.

Wantoks hit back at their second turn of bat in the next inning with two runs, thanks to the batting of Priscilla Samuel who powered a safe hit to the outfield to bring Winnie Parom home safely.

Safe on second base, Samuel stole to third from the next pitch and then eventually snuck home from a pass ball to trail by two runs.
