Nominations open for POM snooker challenge

President of the Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association, John Chan, said the nomination fee is K200.

He added a K50 discount will apply if paid before the deadline at 8pm on Monday, October 30.

"It will be on a first come first serve basis," said Chan.

"We are expecting 48 players including women and juniors to take part, and all players must have a handicap to participate.”   

Chan said a briefing will be held at the Lamana Q Club on Wednesday November 1 at 5pm, with some matches to cue off later that evening.

POMBSA AGM set for June 4

Secretary of the POMBSA, Ephata Samuel, said the meeting will elect its office bearers and committee members for the next 12 months.

“Nominations for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer and five general committee members are now open,” said Samuel.

He said nomination forms are available from the Lamana Q Club. Nominations will close next Sunday (May 28).

“All nominations can be delivered to the Lamana Q Club by 4pm next Sunday, a week before the AGM,” said Samuel.

Corporate snooker receives funding from PMMI

The insurance company today presented K20, 000 to the PMBSA at the Lamana Q Club to cue off the competition which is scheduled for March 6, 2017.

President of the PMBSA, John Chan thanked Pacific MMI for their involvement and support as it has raised the standard of competition in Port Moresby and has seen an increase in the number of players.

“The growth of snooker is just incredible,” said Chan.

He said there will only be six teams allowed in each grade- Premier, A, B and C for this year. Games will be played at the Lamana Q Club, Laguna Hotel and Aviat Club.
