No clarity on rural electrification project

Minister Muthuvel was responding to questions raised by Pomio MP Elias Kapavore.

He clarified that the World bank is yet to come up with a master plan on the roll out of the rural electrification program in the country.

Minister Muthuvel said the master plan will enable state owned agencies to implement the program successfully.

Muthuvel added that the Government is also working on a medium term to roll out the electrification program in all districts.

He said the Government is committed in implementing this program.

Landowners urged to re-register ILGs

“Under the old Act those ILG groups that have registered will expire on February 17, 2017, meaning the new Act will come into force,” Minister Alan said in Parliament on Friday.

He added that landowners will have to renew their ILG certificates by advertising it in the media and if there is no objection the ILG will be renewed under the new Act.

Minister Alan also challenged all parliamentarians to encourage their people to register their customary land and not sell it cheaply.

Rural ENB village gets new vehicle

This will greatly help in softening current transport woes of the people and rural farmers in this area.

The long base, open back truck was officially handed over to the chairman of the South Coast Transport Services, Fidelis Poiken, by Pomio MP Elias Kapavore, amidst joyous cheering from the locals who turned up to witness the occasion.

Kapavore told the people that he was appreciative of the wonderful welcome given and the singing from the Merai Elementary School and Nongia Primary School, including the choirs sang in the local Mali-Baining dialect.
