Suspension of Clinical Examinations at POMGEN

This is part of the scale down of services at the hospital due to rise in cases of the Delta Variant.

The circular read, ‘Due to the spike in COVID-19 clinical cases in the hospital and the unprecedented exertion of pressure on the already limited capacity the hospital can cater for.’

The circular stated that it is important that clinicians, nurses and support staff be deployed in efforts to combat and mitigate the efforts of COVID-19 in the hospital.

Grieving Parents Want Answers

Seven days after the unexplained death of their son, the parents of late Rex Wanzing, Raela Mary Wanzing and Ben Wanzing want answers from the responsible authorities.

“We have been going back and forth to the hospital since Monday to get his death certificate, but we have been told that the Hospital is still doing its own investigations,” said Mr Wanzing.

“He was a healthy boy walking into the theatre but he came out like this. He was never sick at all.”

According to the mother, late Rex was diagnosed with a corneal disease, which required eye surgery.

PMGH receives Cardiac Equipment

This is the first set of equipment given to the hospital by KPHL as part of its commitment to support the improvement of the National Heart Center at PMGH.

This follows a Memorandum Of Agreement (MoA) signed by KPHL and the Health Ministry last year in 2020.

KPHL Managing Director, Wapu Sonk said it is committed to working with the Port Moresby General Hospital, as the main referral hospital for the country.
