POM City Markets

Everyday People: Bolalava Vaia – 360 Galore

This is my third year of running my little SME ‘360 Galore’ and a lot of people have asked about it and the essence behind it is that in the future I won’t just be selling products within PNG but I’ll be selling products around the world.

Momase Baskets Enter POM Market

A 26-year-old, Delta-May Kamano was the winner of a free stall at the August Markets where she marketed products from women in her community, which, otherwise have little opportunity to make sales in Lae.

“I started this operation in June because I saw mothers struggling to sell their baskets. They carry them on their backs, walking for miles hoping to find buyers and on a good day they will sell three to five,” Ms Kamano explained.

Pushing SME support programs

Mentor Moments will feature its first guru chef, Alice Futter, on Saturday July 17 from 12.30pm to 3pm at the National Museum and Art Gallery.

Futter has worked around the world for the past 25 years as a chef and barista and recently, as an entrepreneur here in Papua New Guinea as owner of Fab Catering. She is currently a food and beverage consultant to various establishments.

First-ever POM city markets staged

The event is a local platform, collaborating to create a general purpose city market.

It was staged at the Sir John Guise stadium, boasting a successful turnout with 30 stalls.

Organised by Rowanna Endose and the Pascoe Promotions, POM city markets is set to be staged on the second of every month.

The idea here is to provide a safe space made available for a variety of different things to be sold and at least at a more central location for the general public to visit.
