Polio vaccination

The vaccination sites includes schools, health centres, markets, bus-stops and other designated sites.

Since the confirmation of the first polio case on September 6^th in a 6 year old boy residing at 5-mile settlement, a provincial polio emergency operations centre was activated and has been managing the day-to-day outbreak response.

So far 5097 children from the 5-mile settlement aged from 0 to 15 have received polio vaccination.

This is about 6% of the 3 hundred thousand target.

2900 vaccinators, volunteers, international polio experts, logisticians and communication officers have been deployed in health centres and mobile points to conduct vaccination.

Giving an update today, health department and its supporting and implementing partners said the general public in the 3 provinces have responded well to the call with all 3 provinces vaccinating well over 5000 children to date.
