Mr Manning made the comments after a number of rumours began appearing about the roles of security forces at the time of the Return of Writs and the sitting of the Eleventh Parliament.

Commissioner Baki tells PNG Loop that this shift of command is to reflect strategic operational needs as part of his intention  to prepare the Royal PNG Police constabulary for major events after the 2015 Pacific Games such as the upcoming 2017 elections and 2018 APEC meeting.

Baki says that ideally the posting period for the provincial police commanders should be between 3 to 4 years. In that way officers can exercise command but refrain from being too stagnant and lose focus on their operation duties as commanders.
