IDG’s not touched: Haiveta

Governor, Chris Haiveta, said the monies have not been touched.

During the benefit rollout for Landowners of Segment 7 of the PNG LNG Project Pipeline, Governor Haiveta said now that respective Incorporated Land Groups (ILG’s) have been set up, proposed IDG projects will go back to the ILG.

He urged ILG’s to propose infrastructure projects that fall in line with established local and Provincial Development Plans.

“Your infrastructure Developments Grants are there, my Government has not touched it up to today,” said Governor Haiveta.

Kavo queries follow-up EIS studies in Gulf Province

During Question Time today, Kavo asked Minister for Environment and Conservation, John Pundari, if a follow up study on the current environmental impacts faced by his province had been done to see any variations to EIS’s compiled by developers.

He said these in relation to the PNG LNG Pipeline along the Gulf coast as well as the increasing earthmoving activity in the Highlands Region.

Kavo said there is increasing impact on the coast with siltation and elevation of the sea floor affecting marine life as well as villages.
