Cancer Foundation to launch PINKTOBER this week

The annual PINKTOBER that is dedicated to promoting awareness on women’s cancer will be launched on Wednesday, September 28.

The Papua New Guinea Cancer Foundation will officially launch PINKTOBER and announce its activities during October to help raise funds for awareness on cancer affecting women.

PNGCF chief executive officer Dadi Toka Jnr always stresses that women’s cancer, cervical and breast, are rapidly increasing in PNG so we all must work together to prevent cancer.

Statistics show that two women die every day from cervical cancer.

Cricket PNG joins in fight against cancer

The event which was sponsored by CPNG and the Australian Government was extra special being held on Mother’s Day.

In attendance were representatives of the cricket fraternity, Women’s Cricket Director, Iammo Launa, PNGCF Educator, Paulus Miroi and the women’s national cricket team- the City Pharmacy Ltd Lewas.

Miroi stressed on the dangers of mouth cancer and the risks of developing the disease from excessive smoking and chewing of betel nut.

Amongst the guests were students from the CPNG Kriket Blo Olgeta Program who brought along their mothers for the occasion.
