Peter Ling Koh Woo

No update yet from Immigration on Woo’s review

Woo’s lawyer, Greg Sheppard, appeared before Justice Hitelai Polume-Kiele today however could not update the court on the progress of the review as lawyer representing the Chief Migration officer Mataio Rabura and Foreign Affairs Minister Rimbink Pato, Barrion Kua was not in court.

Kua told the court on Oct 3 that a committee was reviewing an application by Woo to come back to the country following his deportation.

When asked how long such reviews take, Sheppard told the court it is “usually done within a few days.”

Committal Court: Return Woo’s passport to lawyer

Woo’s passport has been with the Committal Court as part of his bail condition while he faces criminal charges at the court.

However, he was deported by Immigration on July 2 without his passport, two days after the Committal Court refused an application by Immigration asking the court to hand over the passport.

Woo was allegedly ordered by the chief migration officer to be deported from the country within seven days of the notice being served. His lawyer, Greg Sheppard, told the court in June that his client was never served the order.

District Court refuses Immigration application to hand over passport

The court today ruled that Immigration and the chief migration officer had no standing in their application and refused to grant orders to hand over the passport of businessman, Peter Ling Koh Woo, so he can be deported.

Woo was allegedly ordered by the chief migration officer to be deported from the country within seven days of the notice being served. His lawyer, Greg Sheppard, told the court last week that his client was never served the order.
