Firearm policy to be designed

Bomana Police Training Commandant, Perou N’Dranou, mentioned this during a firearm training session for a group of National Capital District police personnel this morning.

N’Dranou said this will make the program legal and mandated so that anyone who is in possession of firearms is required by law to undergo training.

He said the policy is in its early stages of development so for now, the training college is using only the procedures which are simple training instructions to develop trainings and programs for the police personnel.

20 officers undergo firearm training

The group, consisting of 17 men and 3 women, have all been on location for the intense firearm training since Monday.

Bomana Police Training Commandant, Perou N’Dranou, said gun control is of high importance, especially if it’s the police behind the firearm.

He said recent incidents have seen the general public lose confidence in the police force and it is their responsibility to train these officers about firearms and gun control in public places.

13 officers complete firearm training

The program started on Monday, which saw 12 men and a woman take part in both theory and practical training about the law and the use of firearms.

Training Commandant Perou N’Dranou says this training program will be rolled out to other parts of the country as well.

He says the participants who completed this course are from Central and NCD and are the first batch to redo this rehabilitation program.
