During the event, the Australian High Commission Papua New Guinea Representative Kishni Goonesena delivered a powerful message to the participants, emphasizing that sport can be a potent tool for promoting peace, challenging gender norms, and advancing equality.

Trophy Haus renews support to PNGOC

The sponsorship agreement will last for a period of 12 months and includes several new benefits for the PNGOC and its members and affiliates.

Under the terms of the renewed sponsorship agreement, Trophy Haus Limited will provide K10,000 store credit to the PNGOC.

Corporate discounts will also be applied to the PNGOC, Team PNG, and member and affiliate National Federations, providing significant cost savings on sports equipment and apparel.

Athlete development workshops vital

Through the support from the Olympic Solidarity and Kumul Consolidated Holdings Ltd, the PNGOC will be running workshops in Port Moresby, Goroka, Lae and Kokopo with the aim of building up the capacity of its member National Federations and the other stakeholders in sport that play an important part in identifying talent and developing them. 
 

Jacks of PNG Partners with Team PNG

Jacks of PNG has sealed a two-year merchandise partnership which saw the PNGOC award the supplier the licensing rights to its Team PNG brand to manufacture, advertise and distribute Team PNG merchandise apparel for the two-year period.

The merchandising agreement allows the PNGOC to provide its Team PNG trademark to Jacks of PNG to create an agreed range of Team PNG supporter apparel for the public to purchase from all Jacks of PNG retail outlets.

2021, A Challenging Year For Sport: PNGOC

Secretary-General, Auvita Rapilla when presenting the 2021 Annual Report and Audited Financial Report said last year was tough and the PNGOC was presented with uunprecedented challenges in running fundraising events, hosting the annual general assembly, and adapting to changing technological requirements among other things.

“This forced us to become more collaborative and champion values of honesty, excellence, respect and openness as we strived to be more innovative and work towards optimistic outcomes,” she said.

Theodist Continues To Support PNGOC

The PNG Olympic Committee (PNGOC) is extremely grateful to its corporate partner for over 20 years, Theodist Ltd who came good yesterday, dishing out a K50,000 worth of support to the Olympic Committee as they prepare to send Team PNG for the Mini-Pacific Games in Northern Marianas and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, mid this year.

Registrations Open For PM’s Golf Challenge

The tournament dates have been scheduled for April 8th in Lae and 22nd April for Port Moresby respectively.

The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) is calling on organisations from both the public and private sectors to register a team(s) to support its annual fundraising event.

All funds raised in both events will go towards Team PNG’s participation at the Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Marianas in June and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England in July.   

PNGOC Awaits Federations

So far only four have applied. Athletics PNG, Basketball, Boxing and Va’a received funding last year under Team PNG’s performance strategy.

Those yet to apply must meet the requirements and follow procedures when applying for funding support.

This initial funding support from Kumul Consolidated Holdings (KCH) will assist the federations to stage national competitions that are in line with their selection process and criteria.

Jack’s of PNG Partnership

The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) has welcomed Jacks of PNG as a partner for the year 2021.

PNGOC Corporate Manager Ian Leklek welcomed Jacks of PNG after the retailer provided ‘Walk Out Uniforms’, for Team PNG attending the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

“The Team PNG uniform is always one of our biggest costs and having Jacks of PNG on board to provide in kind sponsorship of Team PNG Walk Out Uniforms has greatly reduced that burden on Team PNG’s Games Budget,” said Leklek.

Team PNG contingent confirmed

The contingent includes Chef De Mission, Tamzin Wardley (former treasurer of PNGOC), two members of general team management, a chief medical officer and a physiotherapist.

Sir John also confirmed that three Papua New Guinean sports leaders will perform administrative and technical roles at the Tokyo Olympic Games in their respective capacity outside of Team PNG.

Auvita Rapilla, PNGOC Secretary General, is attending the Games and IOC Sessions in her capacity as IOC Member.
