Street and music festival set for Independence celebration

The first ever Street and Music Festival, from Sept 15-17, is a celebration of PNG arts and culture and will also showcase traditional dance groups, break dancers, acrobats, singers and jazz bands.

The festival supports Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and upcoming local talents.

They’ll be a lot of arts and craft as well including painting and graffiti art with traditional food available for sale.

The official part of the street festival will be a parade by schools in NCD and the police and CIS.

Paga Hill ring road nearing completion

The ring road will be four lanes and the existing road from Ela Beach Roundabout to town will also be converted to four lanes.

The K50 million 2km road now has only two lanes with work to commence soon to extend both the Stanley Esplanade end and Ela Beach end to four lanes.

NCD Governor Powes Parkop said that the ring road looks outstanding and is going to change the face of that part of the city.

Parkop said this road is vital and critical to the successful hosting of the 2018 APEC Leaders’ Summit which is very important regional international event.
