Williamson heads Pacific MMI

Darryl is from Auckland, New Zealand. He has more than 30 years’ insurance industry experience in New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific.   

Darryl is not new to PNG, having first come to PNG in 1995, working with New Zealand Insurance’s PNG Office until 1998. Since that time, Darryl has developed a very strong resume, which included roles such as the Managing Director - National Pacific Insurance Ltd; General Manager – QBE Fiji; and Territory Manager-QBE PNG and Solomon Islands. 

Corporate snooker receives funding from PMMI

The insurance company today presented K20, 000 to the PMBSA at the Lamana Q Club to cue off the competition which is scheduled for March 6, 2017.

President of the PMBSA, John Chan thanked Pacific MMI for their involvement and support as it has raised the standard of competition in Port Moresby and has seen an increase in the number of players.

“The growth of snooker is just incredible,” said Chan.

He said there will only be six teams allowed in each grade- Premier, A, B and C for this year. Games will be played at the Lamana Q Club, Laguna Hotel and Aviat Club.

Pacific MMI sponsor POM Snooker Challenge with K20,000

This is the 10th year of Pacific MMI’s sponsorship to the annual event.

In a cheque presentation this morning, Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association President, John Chan thanked outgoing Pacific MMI Managing Director, Wayne Dorgan for his undivided support to snooker in the country.

He also welcomed Acting Managing Director, Andrew Gogo for continuing with Pacific MMI’s support.

“The continuing arrangement runs until 2018 and I thank Andrew Gogo for continuing to honour this arrangement left by Wayne,” said Chan.

Kumul Holdings in discussions with BSP to operate Pacific MMI

The scope of the JV also includes BSP Life (Fiji) Limited which conducts life insurance in Fiji.

“As Pacific MMI is owned by Kumul Consolidated Holdings we are now exploring how we can best leverage our relationship with BSP,” Minister Public Enterprises and State Investments William Duma said.

“The prospective partnership will give Pacific MMI an enormous presence in the market place.”

Minister Duma encouraged all State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to consider Pacific MMI as their insurance provider.

BSP signs agreement to operate Pacific MMI

In a statement released by the Port Moresby Stock Exchange, BSP Chairman Sir Kostas Constantinou stated that the MoU also allows for the expansion of the JV activities into Fiji via BSP’s established insurance subsidiary in Fiji.

He added that the strategic objectives captured by the MoU are consistent with the Group’s geographic and business diversification strategy.

Cricket Star Lisa Sthalekar to visit PNG

Sthalekar, a right handed all-rounder, was rated the leading all-rounder in the world when rankings were first introduced.

The two-time International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup winner (2005 and 2013) will travel to Port Moresby with other international cricket stars to participate in the Pacific MMI ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ Legends Big Bash.

No stranger to ICC global success, Sthalekar is particularly keen on speaking to the PNG women’s national cricket team and recent ICC East Asia Pacific winners, the City Pharmacy Ltd. (CPL) PNG Lewas.
