OTML Patrol and Census update

These programs, the Communications & Consultation Patrol (CC Patrol) and the CMCA Census Update play a crucial role in securing the communities' consent and social license for OTML's operations.

The annual CC Patrol serves as a platform for OTML to share information about its operations, address community queries and concerns, and listen to feedback from the local communities. This helps the company's management to promptly address emerging issues and foster a positive relationship with the communities.

Cowboys Greats rub shoulders with locals

This exciting collaboration between OTML and the Cowboys demonstrates the company's dedication to strengthening its ties with the local communities.

Cooper and Morgan, both esteemed figures in the rugby league world, played pivotal roles in the Cowboys' historic grand final victory during the 2015 Australian National Rugby League Premiership. They have also represented Queensland in numerous State of Origin clashes and donned the green and gold jersey for Australia in various representative squads, including the Prime Ministers XIII and Kangaroos.

OTML work towards environmental impacts

General Manager for Social, Performance and Sustainability and Chairman for Ok Tedi Development Foundation, Jesse Pile, shared the focus on Ok Tedi Mining Ltd’s on assisting environmental impacts in the surrounding communities of the Mine.

Adding that OTML will support farming and agriculture projects in the case of extending mine life in the province. OTML was part of the launch of the Kiunga Agro-Industrial Centre and Vanilla Project last on Friday 30th of June, 2023 at Samagoes, North Fly District.

Ten secure OTML scholarship

The students are in their third year of studies at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) and the PNG University of Technology (Unitech). Three are studying Environmental Science, and Geology at UPNG, while the rest are Unitech students studying Applied Physics/Instrumentation, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mineral Processing and Mining Engineering.

Ok Tedi praised for supporting NID project

Minister for Internal Security, Peter Tsiamalili Jr thanked OTML for supporting the project when he officially opened the new PNGCIR Office in Kiunga recently.   

The opening of the new office on 9th January 2023, also saw OTML officially handing over the project to the North Fly District Development Authority after successfully implementing the project for nearly five years at a cost of more than K9 million.  

Women’s Association donates fuel to Kiunga Police

Tutuwe Ara is one of nine women and children associations under the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) arrangement between Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) and the mine impact communities. 

Association Vice President, Serah Meroke made the presentation on behalf of the 29 Tutuwe Trust villages along the Kiunga to Tabubil Highway.

She said, “We did our association patrols and received reports of general law and order issues in our 29 villages.

OTML Marks Day Of Women In Mining

The members of the management team, OTML women employees and business partners attended the event in Tabubil.

Speakers at the event was, Manager Process Asset Renewal Interface, Lyndah Brown, who has 30 years of experience in the industry and Administration Officer Crane Services, Anna Aisa, who has served the company for 15 years.

Both women shared inspiring testimonies and challenges of working in the mining industry.

OWN President and OTML Manager Finance, Beverly Pasen, said the event was a celebration of the resilient spirit of women in mining.

OTML Opens Camp Facilities

OTML’s new admin office located near the main messing facility will improve camp and messing services that OTML provides for its workforce and visitors, while the cafeteria provides light snacks and beverages for workers who prefer a light meal outside the mess opening hours.

Managing Director and CEO, Musje Werror, stated that OTML is committed to providing a safe and conducive working environment for its employees and business partners.

The total cost of the project was US$1.2 million and included an upgrade of the mess parking area.

Mine Villages Get New Homes

The project was a partnership between Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF), Finalbin community, local building contractors and Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) that saw these families each receive keys to their new homes this month.

Chairman of the Mine Villages, Maino Lucas, said the project was a sign of change in support at the mine’s executive management level, “The project delivered shows the leadership we have at the Ok Tedi mine, our people will benefit through this leadership.”
