OTML empowers women

The ceremony, held on November 22nd and 29th in Tabubil, featured two sessions to accommodate the diverse work rosters of the participants.

The RISE Program, initiated in 2021, marked its third cohort this year, offering a comprehensive 7-month curriculum aimed at empowering and developing female employees for their current roles and future promotional opportunities. A total of 90 women employees have now completed the program, demonstrating OTML's dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.

OTML gets on as ‘principal sponsor’

The conference will be held from December 10th-13th at the Sydney International Convention Centre under the theme: ‘PNG Resources and Energy: Promoting Sustainable Investment’.

Industrial Training Opportunity for Uni Students

They will have the opportunity to participate in an immersive 11-week industrial training program starting from November 16, 2023

The program is designed to provide hands-on experience to complement their classroom-based learning and bridge the gap between theory and practice.

During the program, the trainees will work in different departments aligned with their academic disciplines, including Processing Mechanical Maintenance, Engineering & Roads, Power Services, Process Technical Services, Mine Production, Environment, and Geology & Exploration.

OTML offer students opportunities

The company is launching its "Preferred Area Work Experience On-The-Job Training" program for the second time in 2023. The program will welcome 20 students from the Kiunga Vocational Training Centre.

Last year, OTML's Major Projects Team initiated this program and accepted seven trade students from Kiunga Vocational for training in fields such as mechanical, electrical, boiler making (welding), and carpentry. Impressively, four of these trainees were retained by OTML and are now progressing through the skills recognition program's second stage.

Trainees Challenged to Excel in Their Fields

Out of 338 applicants, 22 individuals were selected for the rigorous OTML Apprenticeship Training Program, while 21 locals were chosen from a pool of 1,476 applicants for the PAD Training Program.

General Manager of Engineering, Infrastructure & Projects Franz Hemetsberger urged the trainees to seize this rare opportunity and strive to become experts in their chosen fields. He emphasized the significance of their roles in advancing Papua New Guinea's capabilities and encouraged them to make the most of their training.

OTML Announces K100M Interim Dividend

The announcement was made by OTML's Board Chairman, Jeffrey Innes, who also conveyed an optimistic outlook for a final dividend payment in December 2023.

Innes highlighted the significant transformations that OTML has undergone over the past year, including changes in leadership, a comprehensive business restructure, and cost-effective management measures. These efforts have resulted in improved production levels and operational efficiency, instilling confidence in the company's future success.

OTML Supports UPNG Geosciences open day

OTML donated K5000 towards UPNG’s Earth Sciences division in hosting the 2023 UPNG Geosciences Open Day, scheduled for October 6th, 2023, at its Waigani Campus in Port Moresby.

The 2023 UPNG Geosciences Open Day marks the second successive year that the Earth Sciences Division is hosting this educational networking event. 

OTML Manager Corporate Affairs, Dexter Wagambie, presented a cheque of K5000 to Dr. Joseph Espi, Associate Professor and Head of the Earth Sciences Division, in front of budding geoscientists and staff members. 

Mine village receives new clinic

The newly unveiled clinic assumes a vital role as one of the catchment clinics for Tabubil Hospital, offering essential medical services, personnel, and a reliable supply of medical resources.

Village Ward Councillor, Roy Meki, commended the collaborative effort of the Migalsim community, OTML, and landowner companies' leaders in establishing the clinic. He urged community members to take responsibility for the facility, emphasizing the dedication and sacrifice that went into its realization.

Ok Tedi Mine Life Extended

This decision reflects the board's unwavering confidence in OTML's capacity to deliver sustained excellence over the next two decades. The extension is founded on the latest Strategic Business Plan, which was meticulously discussed during the OTML Board meeting held in Tabubil on 13th September 2023.

OTML's vision to operate with excellence, maximize the value of mineral resources in an eco-friendly manner, and ensure sustainable economic and social benefits for local communities and the people of Papua New Guinea is coming to fruition with this development.

OTML operations uninterrupted amid El Nino fear

Responding to queries from various media outlets, Kedi Ilimbit, managing director and chief executive officer of OTML, reassured stakeholders that the company is vigilantly monitoring the situation.

Ilimbit conveyed, "OTML is well-prepared to address the situation, armed with a comprehensive Dry Weather Management Plan and an El Nino Management Plan, which will be enacted if and when necessary."
