Legendary rugby league player and NRL coach passes away

The 49-year-old passed away at his Brisbane home on Thursday morning.

A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of his death.

Friends have revealed Green had not complained about being ill and have been left shocked and devastated by his passing.

He had been regularly mentioned as a coaching option at a number of NRL clubs this season, and was set for a comeback to the NRL after being offered the Dolphins assistant coach role by Wayne Bennett two weeks ago.

Panthers v Storm: Eisenhuth in for JFH; Meaney, Olam return

Once again they both sit inside the top four with the Panthers on the cusp of securing their second minor premiership in three years.

Penrith allayed fears that they would go into freefall without halfback Nathan Cleary in their side with a comfortable 26-6 victory over Canberra last week, with the performance showcasing the depth coach Ivan Cleary has at his disposal.

Knights survive second half scare to beat Wests Tigers

A lacklustre match between two teams desperately trying to avoid finishing on the bottom of the ladder looked like one-way traffic early before it came to life as the Wests Tigers tried to get back into the game after trailing 14-0.

The Knights took advantage of some flimsy left edge defence from the home side in the first half to run in three tries for a 14-0 lead.

A double to Enari Tuala started proceedings before departing Knight Tex Hoy bounced off Adam Doueihi's tackle attempt to cross for the visitors' third.

Cowboys rally late to overcome Bulldogs in Bundaberg

The North Queensland playmakers were on song with Chad Townsend and Tom Dearden continuing their superb season and Scott Drinkwater at his attacking best with back-to-back tries, cementing the Cowboys third win on the trot.

An unusual start to the game in Bundaberg saw a successful captain’s challenge hand the Bulldogs an attacking opportunity straight out of the gates and a well weighted Matt Burton grubber found Josh Addo-Carr to open the scoring for the Bulldogs.

Wests Tigers v Knights: Pole set to start; Best back on deck

Brett Kimmorley's side moved off the bottom of the Telstra Premiership ladder with a much-needed win over the Broncos and now find themselves just two points behind the Novocastrians as they enter the final weeks of the regular season.

Having battled injury and inconsistency all season, the Knights come into Round 21 on the end of a four-game losing streak and searching for answers with the worst attack and defensive record through the first 20 weeks of the season.

Bulldogs v Cowboys: No changes for Dogs; Hammer in for Feldt

Having put the Dragons to the sword on Sunday, Todd Payten's men turn their focus to a danger game against a Bulldogs outfit riding high on the exhilarating form of Matt Burton and Josh Addo-Carr.

With wins in four of their past six matches the Bulldogs are serving notice they'll be a premiership force in 2023 but before that they can play spoiler for finals contenders the Cowboys, Eels and Sharks in coming weeks.

Sharks hold off Dragons to climb to third on ladder

With four games to play the Sharks are in the box seat to snare a crucial top-four position while the season appears to be over for the Dragons.

The Sharks needed only three minutes to open the scoring when Nicho Hynes strolled over from close range before the Dragons hit back in the ninth minute when a Ben Hunt bomb was spilled by Ronaldo Mulitalo and Jack de Belin picked up the scraps to score.

The Dragons went down a man in the 12th minute when Tariq Sims was sent to the bin for high contact on Sharks winger Connor Tracey.

Happy 100th! Panthers win big for Edwards in milestone game

Edwards looked to be in pain with a shoulder injury for much of the match but he continually turned up in defence and grabbed a try as the Panthers racked up their 18th win of the season.

The Raiders drew first blood in the ninth minute when their inspirational forward leader Josh Papalii powered over from close range for his third try of the season. Jamal Fogarty's conversion made it 6-0.

It took Penrith just three minutes to hit back after a Raiders error handed them their first attacking opportunity and hooker Api Koroisau burrowed over.

Ruthless Rabbitohs in sight of top four after thumping Warriors

Murray set up the first three tries of the match, while Mitchell scored two and laid on two others as a ruthless Souths side leapfrogged the Broncos and Roosters into sixth position on the Telstra Premiership ladder.

So dominant was Murray that the Rabbitohs captain had run more than 100 metres by the time second-rower Keaon Koloamatangi scored his side's fourth try in the 21st minute and he finished with a game high 191 metres.

Sharks v Dragons: Dykes to debut; McGuire into starting side

Sitting third on 28 competition points, the Sharks play the sides coming 11th, 15th, 10th, 12th and 14th in the final five games so a home final at PointsBet Stadium beckons.

The Dragons hit a major hurdle on Sunday when they were totally outplayed by the Cowboys and their misfiring attack must be a huge concern to coach Anthony Griffin.

Given that Cronulla boast the third best defensive record in the NRL the Dragons will need to find a whole lot more with ball in hand if they are to topple the Sharks for the first time since round five, 2020.
