Slater offered three-year Maroons role — but the ‘jury’s out’ on QLD’s ‘huge gamble’

The Courier Mail reports the QRL offered a two-year deal with an option for a third, but the Maroons must meet Slater’s asking price in order for the legendary fullback to accept the offer.

New South Wales coach Brad Fittler is said to be on $350,000, while Green was paid just under $200,000.

Johnston feeling 2014 vibes with Rabbitohs belief sky-high

Johnston starred on the wing for the Bunnies in his rookie season in 2014 and seven years later he's now a leader at the club looking to send off Wayne Bennett and several of his teammates on the right note.

Last week's 16-10 upset win over the Panthers was a breakthrough effort from Bennett's side and earned them their first week off in a finals series since their last grand final appearance.

The Rabbitohs will play either the Sea Eagles or Roosters in week three as they eye their second grand final in 50 years.

Bulldogs terminate Lachlan Lewis's contract

The decision comes two weeks after Lewis was stood down pending the outcome of an investigation into an alleged incident.

"After issuing Lachlan a breach notice and following due process regarding his response, the club has decided to part ways with Lachlan, effective immediately," Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton said in a statement.

"The Club is committed to supporting Lachlan during this time and we wish him all the best for the future."

Brawling Broncos star ‘bloodied’ after Mad Monday bust-up with teammate

The Courier Mail reported on Tuesday morning that Thomas Flegler and Jordan Riki clashed during the club’s post-season celebrations.

It reportedly came after Brisbane farewelled Alex Glenn in style with a 35-22 win over the Knights.

Slater, Smith, Thurston in the mix as Maroons, Green part ways

The Maroons are understood to be hoping to make a quick decision on their fourth State of Origin coach in as many seasons after deciding they wanted someone who could make a long-term commitment to the role.

Green was contracted to coach Queensland in this year's series with a mutual option for 2022 but the 2015 Cowboys premiership-winning mentor has always wanted to return to NRL coaching and a number of jobs are expected to become available within the next 12 months.

‘Questions must be answered’: Madge’s job on the line after chairman’s brutal admission

The Tigers are about to commence a post-season review led by CEO Justin Pascoe and head of football Adam Hartigan and Sunday’s humiliating loss certainly doesn’t put Maguire in good stead.

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting the Tigers received several expressions of interest for Maguire’s job but the club won’t entertain any other options until a call is made on the coach.

Titans eliminate Sharks from finals equation with fiery Warriors rout

Campbell's five-star showing in a 44-0 thrashing of the listless Warriors came with the same flair and flourish of his old man and club founding father Preston, and pushed the Gold Coast past the 11-point winning margin needed to pinch eighth spot from the Sharks.

A 16-0 halftime lead had the Titans already in the top eight.

Another five second-half tries when all the Warriors offered was scuffles and sin bins booked the Gold Coast's first finals berth since 2016 and a sudden death showdown against the Roosters.

Raiders’ mad finals scramble; big money Titans face anxious wait: The Race for the Eight

Touted as an early contender for the premiership, Canberra must beat the Roosters on Thursday and hope the Sharks lose against Melbourne on Friday to ensure the simplest of passages to finals football.

Canberra and Cronulla could both lose, but The Green Machine would need the Storm to rack up a big score to bring them back into finals contention.

The Storm have rested seven players from last week’s loss to Parramatta against a Sharks side that’s in poll position.

“If you’ve earned the position of rest players this week, well good on you,” Stuart said.

‘Can’t fathom that’: Latrell hit sparks fiery debate as Perenara is axed in ugly fallout

Perenara was in the Bunker for the game and has been ridiculed ever since, along with on field referee Ashley Klein, for not intervening after Latrell Mitchell’s brutal high shot on Joey Manu.

Manu had to approach Mitchell before the tackle was looked at and action was taken by the referee.

Perenara was the subject of Roosters coach Trent Robinson’s all-time spray in his post-game press conference and was ultimately stood down by the NRL for the remaining games of Round 24.

Twin farewell: Reliable Morris wants elusive title before retiring

But on Monday afternoon he was thanking both men, along with his devoted mother Karen and siblings, for contributing to a 15-year journey that began at the Dragons and will finish at the Roosters this season.

Morris followed suit with his brother Brett to confirm he'll retire after the Roosters' last finals game in an announcement that was made without his wife Elise and children Cali and Jesse in attendance, who remain in lockdown in Sydney.
