Powers delegated to Oro education division

The signing was between the Teaching Service Commission and the Oro Provincial Government.

TSC acting Commissioner, Samson Wangihomie, said the idea is to take the service to where its recipients are, hence the delegation of powers.

Teachers in Northern no longer need to waste resources to go to Waigani as the powers delegated to Oro include payroll, vacation, compassionate and sick leave, health of member and leave without pay for up to two years. The Oro Education Division has been delegated powers under the Teaching Service Act Part VIII.

Growers wait for over 2 decades for titles

The newly-elected chairman of the Popondetta Oil Palm Growers Association (POPGA), Arnold Koko told Loop PNG this week they have been waiting for more than 20 years to obtain land title documentations for their oil palm blocks.

Some applicants have died trying to obtain those vital papers, passing on the issue to their next of kin.

Northern province ventures into rice farming

An agreement had been signed between Trukai, Oro Rice Growers Cooperative Association and the Oro Provincial Government to start the project.

The agreement is a three-way partnership between Trukai, Oro Rice Growers Cooperative and the Provincial Government to expand rice growing in Oro as a major cash crop.

Trukai will ensure quality control and extension services are provided while the farmers pledged 3,000 hectares of land and a continued flow of quality rice.
