Cybercrime Act to feature in workshop

“We are having the workshop, in partnership with APNIC to (discuss ways on how to) reduce cost and increase penetration rate of internet services (in PNG),” NICTA chief executive officer Charles Punaha said.

APNIC is the Regional Internet Registry administering IP addresses for the Asia Pacific.

Punaha earlier stated that the workshop will be an avenue to create awareness of the 2016 Cybercrime Act to all the participants.

High on the agenda will be the discussions on the 2016 Cybercrime Act and high cost of internet usage in the country.

NICTA Chief Executive Officer Charles Punaha confirmed the timing of the workshop yesterday.  

“We are having the workshop next week, in partnership with APNIC to reduce the cost and increase in the penetration use of internet services (in PNG).”

Internet policy must protect children

NICTA chief executive officer Charles Punaha says formulating an internet policy and internet filtering systems will address the issue of pornography, human trafficking, money laundering and other issues of crime related to the use of internet.

Punaha challenged participants at the combined stakeholders workshop on Internet Filtering System currently underway in Port Moresby.
