New NAC Board to focus on APEC preparation

This was one of the major challenges given by Minister for Civil Aviation Davis Steven during the announcement of the new board on Monday.

Steven alerted the board that important decisions will be soon announced regarding the APEC expectations and that they should be ready for it.

NAC newly appointed acting managing director and chief executive officer Richard Yopo assured that preparing for APEC is one of the first orders of business for the new board.

NEC asked to review Christian health services budget

“Through the normal readjustments to the 2016 National Budget, the CHS be also considered for possible reinstatement of funding gap of K47.3 million,” Minister Michael Malabag said yesterday.

Malabag said the budget cut in the 2016 budget has affected the 47 percent of the health care provision by CHS, especially in rural areas where the government falls short to reach.

NEC to decide plans for drought disaster

Marape explained that the initial K25 million allocated in the budget was expended during the frost period that affected the Highlands and other parts of the country. 

He says the government decided that to make things easier its members are now allowed to use up to K2 million to respond to drought/frost affected areas.

 Marape says an announcement will be made tomorrow.  The government will also reflect this  in its budget for the 2016 allocation for disaster response.
