According to the Police, the station of the Cross Walk which began on Good Friday, was conducted peacefully with no major or minor incident reported due to the high visibility of all police units in the city.

A sad day for late police officer's family: Commander

“Late Senior Inspector Andrew Tovere was the Superintendent Operations for NCD Policing Zone 3 when he was tragically attacked and killed,” said NCD/Central Divisional Commander, Anthony Wagambie Jnr.

“Late Senior Inspector Tovere succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal attack and passed away yesterday afternoon. 

“He was killed after a confrontation with off duty soldiers who were under the influence of alcohol.

“Late Tovere and his team went to the ATS Community Police post when the incident happened.

NCD police meet with HB elders

Today a second meeting was held between Met Supt Perou N’Dranou and his Superintendent Operations Micahel Tilae, along with village representatives.

The meeting was set up to form up mechanisms to deal with law and order issues in the village.

Addressing the meeting, the Met Supt commended the elders for taking a step to deal with issues being faced since police absence from the village in 2015.

The Superintendent of operations, Michael Tilae, reiterated calls by N'Dranou adding this was a step in helping them deal with law and order issues among the community.

Pom residents warned to behave: Police

Police have passed on a very important message for residents to welcome the New Year responsibly.

In a briefing this morning with the NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou N’dranou and his senior officers, Port Moresby residents have been warned to refrain from intolerable behaviors that will put them in trouble with the law.

NCD Police boss said for the residents to continue to behave and celebrate the same way they did during the Christmas period.
