Obama stop in Spain before returning home

Obama, who is traveling to Spain from the NATO summit in Warsaw, Poland, cut a day off his visit after the shooting death of five police officers in Dallas and he will come back to the U.S. on Sunday instead of Monday as had been planned.

White House officials said Obama is visiting Spain to demonstrate its importance as a NATO ally. With that in mind, the President will tour the U.S. Naval Station in Rota, Spain, where four U.S. Navy vessels are stationed to bolster NATO security.

"I have no doubt that the UK will remain one of Nato's most capable members," he told the FT as alliance leaders gather for a summit.

The meeting will focus on the perceived threat from a resurgent Russia.

But it has been overshadowed by the UK's vote to leave the EU.

 

Obama warns on Brexit talks

Mr Obama met European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Friday and told a news conference that the Brexit vote had created uncertainty over the future of European integration.
