Nasfund to host 'Top 100 CEO’s investment conference'

This one-day exclusive event will bring together prominent CEOs, industry leaders, and investors to discuss pertinent issues and explore investment opportunities in the country.

The 'Nasfund Top 100 CEO’s Investment Conference' is a unique platform designed by the Fund’s Investment division purposely to facilitate collaboration and dialogue among key stakeholders within the investment community.

Ian Tarutia’s leadership recognized

The event has brought together heads of superannuation funds from across the Pacific Region to discuss issues of common interest, provide a forum for dialogue, support the educational needs of member organizations, and promote investment and co-investment opportunities.

Damien Beddoes is the CEO of Cook Islands National Superannuation Fund and was the first Chairman for the Pacific Island Investment Forum (PIIF) when they hosted in 2018. He currently serves as the Secretariat to support the board and drive the initiatives of the board.

CEFI Trains Nasfund Staff

The training facilitated by the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion, (CEFI), engaged 19 Nasfund staff, from the Fund’s Member & Employer Services Division, completed CEFI’s Training of Trainer’s (ToT) course.

Nasfund Head of Special Projects, Judah Waffi, spoke of the importance of this partnership that aims to ensure maximum value for the Fund’s membership right throughout Papua New Guinea.

“An agreement was signed earlier this year, to promote a closer working relationship between the 
Fund and CEFI,” Wafi said.

Through the Fund’s Membership Discount Program (MDP), Nasfund members can now enjoy the following discounts;

In a statement Nasfund said, “Especially during this busy election period, the Fund notes that there may be disruptions to its operations, especially in areas where there are security issues.”

Nasfund General Manager Member & Employer Services, Anne Wilson is encouraging all members to access these services at their convenience-without the need to fly to Port Moresby.

Superannuation Information Reaches Finschhafen

In its recent engagement in December, the fund’s Lae team travelled to Finschhafen to visit the Wamora Farmers association. The association is made up of coffee, cocoa and vanilla farmers from the Wareo region of Kotte LLG in Finschhafen.

On the 23rd of December, Nasfund special Projects Manager Judah Waffi led a second group which included representatives from Digicel CellMoni and BSP Financial Group.

310 members of Wamora Farmers Association issued with membership cards, are also registered with Eda Supa.

Digitalising Finance System

With the theme ‘Digitalisation of Finance’, this conference brought together the Fund’s Finance team, Board of Directors, and executive management, to learn about the efforts made to provide a more efficient finance platform for the Fund.

In addressing this conference, Fund CEO Ian Tarutia acknowledged the importance of utilizing current and emerging technology to enhance services to members.

“Over the last decade, the Fund has moved away from the traditional paper-based record keeping, to an ever-increasing cloud-based record keeping practice.

Nasfund partners with Morobe

Described as a “dual-focused MoU” by Nasfund’s chairman, Charles Vee, the agreement will enable the superfund to increase its contributor base in Morobe as well as look at investment opportunities.

The July 13th Memorandum of Understanding, which will lapse after 5 years, paves the way for Nasfund and the Morobe Provincial Government to work together to promote a saving’s culture.

Access NASFUND digital services – FOC

Members with Telikom SIM card, MiFi device, of WiFi router can also access NASFUND’s smartphone app, member online portal, employer online portal and website at no fee.

NASFUND Chief Officer Member Services said the partnership was the first of its kind and provides members with a critical service free of charge.

The partnership was forged after feedback from some employer HR’s and payrolls that their organisations will not avail them internet access.

The partnership is seen as a win-win for both parties.
