The first of the three is the Women Conference Soccer League. The Three Conferences; Southern, and NGI Eastern have six teams each who have expressed their interest to participate in the season while Northern has one more team to complete the formalities.

Hekari to meet Lae in GF

Unfortunately, after full time the spotlight was on supporters of both teams invading the field and confronting each other until police intervened.

The much anticipated semi-final clash of the two Moresby based franchises attracted a good size crowd to the home of PNG soccer, the PNG Football stadium.

PNGFA Hopeful Of Resuming Comp

After submitting request to the National Pandemic Controllers Office, seeking conditional approval for the NSL Confederates to resume competition is pending, as they await a favourable response.

PNGFA Competition Director, Roosje Suwae, said the issue of getting players vaccinated before taking the field is also causing mixed reactions from players and team officials.

She explained that although was detrimental to the fate of the competition, this year, they respect the choice of individual players and will not force anyone to get the vaccine.

Newcomers hand NSL defending champs their first loss

The OFC bound Lae FC earned their first loss of season 2020 to the ever promising Vitiaz FC in Lae on Saturday.

In Lae’s first triple header this season, hosted at the Sir Ignatius Kilage stadium before a flamboyant crowd of supporters, Wawens FC earned their second win of the season with 3-2 against Bougainville FC.

In the main game, Morobe United FC were kept all day working for their first win of season 2020, walking out 1-nil against Kutubu FC at fulltime.

But it was Lae FC going down to Vitiaz FC that was a story worth telling.

New NSL entrant means business

Coach Steven Mune is determined to field a very strong team.

Mune made his intention known after the football club’s player selection trials in Kagua Station over the weekend and the caliber of NSL experienced players recruited under Kagua Erave FC.

“Just on the first day of the trials and I have seen a number of good players and I am impressed, they’ve got the skills and knowledge of playing football. I have seen good midfielders, good strikers, basically good offensive players, skillful players who can play other positions and defense. Many of them are utility players.”
