Lino Returns Writ

Dr. Tom after his declaration said there is a need for change when highlighting the challenges faced during this election in Enga Province, which he stemmed as chaotic.

Dr. Lino arrived in Port Moresby on Tuesday 26th July with Wabag Returning officer, John Puiyo to return the Writ to the PNG Electoral Commissioner, Simon Sinai.

As of 9pm Wednesday, 27th July, the progressive results show the gradual rise of votes for Kua, followed by Independent contenders and only Social Democratic Party in the top five racing in slow pace.

Let’s Work Together: Basil Jr

He made the call when he attended a gathering in Bulolo town yesterday, Tuesday 26th July to thank his supporters for their time, commitment and effort resulting in him winning the Bulolo Open seat by a huge margin.

"I want all candidates who contested the Bulolo Open seat with me to put away their differences and work with me to ensure government services reach our people of Bulolo from the four corners of the district," Basil Jr said.

"The seat is not my birthright, nor of each and every candidate who contested, rather it belongs to the people of Bulolo," he said.

Don’t Trust Website: Malaifeope

Central Province Election Manager, Peter Malaifeope, said that he heard a media organization reporting wrong progressive results for Central provincial seat.

“The figures that they were broadcasted was twice the number that we posted at the counting venue. So I called all my Data Processing Officers and Coordinator as to why this was happening. They said the information was taken directly from the Electoral Commission Website,” he said.

Moresby-South First Seat Declared For NCD

Declaration will be made after quality check is done.

At 3pm, quality check commenced at the Rita Flynn counting centre.

This means, if declaration is done this afternoon, the electorate will be the first in the capital city to be declared amidst election chaos and delay.

Meanwhile, incumbent MP, Justin Tkatchenko is leading the tally board with 28, 168 votes.

People’s Congress Party candidate Charles Kassman collected 9,829 votes while Samson Kirilyo received 5,312 votes. 

Casmiro Leads For Goilala Open

Taking the lead is Casmiro Aia – 6,177

Returning Officer for Goilala, Theodore Maia, stated that since the district were the last to begin count, officers need to work extremely hard to be in line with the other districts and meet the deadline.

Wewak Camp Remains Steadfast: PM

Marape said the camp is solid and he expects to see the numbers of MPs attending to increase in the coming days.

Marape said PANGU currently has nine candidates declared with 26 others leading in several provincial and open electorates. “We are not leaving Wewak as yet and no one has chased us out of Wewak. Wewak has been hospitable and has been a great part of PNG and we are here to form Government. Wewak, for the first time, since 1975 will be hosting such camps.”

Paita Thanks People For Mandate

The PANGU Pati candidate polled 23, 504 votes, well over the absolute majority of 16, 121. 

His win pushed up Pangu to nine (9) MPs and leading in 26 other seats.

Prime Minister James Marape picked up Paita in Finschhafen on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 and flew to Wewak where PANGU and coalition partners are camping to form Government.

When addressing the media at a press conference in Wewak upon his arrival, Paita thanked Pangu for endorsing him to contest the Finschhafen seat for the second term and got re-elected for another term.
