Pastor arrested for fraud

Pastor Michael Jack, aged 43 of Koma village in the Mt Hagen Central District, Western Highlands Province, was charged with one count of forgery and one count of uttering.

Pastor Michael Jack also used other names such as: Paulus Kei, John Jason Paraka and Jack Ruimb when dealing with different people. One of his identification documents shows he was of Afghanistan & PNG nationality. 

Fraud squad arrests Gulf man

On 2 February 2018 in NCD, detectives from the National Fraud & Anti-Corruption Directorate arrested and charged Luke Damu, from Wowobo village, Kikori District.

Former UNRE VC arrested

On October 9, 2017, at Kokopo, East New Britain Province, detectives from the National Fraud & Anti-Corruption Directorate in Port Moresby arrested and charged Professor Philip Siaguru, aged 55 of Kwapun village, Wewak District, East Sepik Province, with 12 counts of abuse of office under section 92 of the Criminal Code Act.

Professor Siaguru was the VC of UNRE when he committed the offences.

CCAC: PNG is facing a constitutional crisis

The CCAC which is co-chaired by Transparency International PNG met with the Media Council last week to discuss national issues.

“The CCAC does not accept the closure of the National Fraud & Anti-Corruption Directorate by the Police Commissioner.

“It cannot be seen as coincidental that, immediately following court decisions regarding the work of senior police officers, action was taken to close down the office and place it under siege by police officers who do not appear to understand the implications of their actions.
