Women Converge For Information Session

Women representative from provinces throughout the country are attending this session.

Minister for Community Development Wake Goi officially opened the ceremony this morning, followed by a question and answer session facilitated by the Registry of Political parties.

Minister Goi said, “My Government sees that successfully restoring this women machinery, the National Council of Women will consequently assist my Ministry to address the challenges women face in their everyday life.”

Workshop on women’s Act underway

The event is hosted by the National Council of Women, in partnership with the Department of Community Development and the Constitutional and Law Reform Commission.

The five-day consultative workshop, expected to end on Friday, is hosting discussions on the establishment of proper administrative structures, identifying inclusive NCW regulations and a five-year strategic plan.

In accordance with the theme: “Empowering and transforming NCWs at all levels”, NCW Treasurer Jane Kenni told Loop PNG that the event aims to provide basis for the women’s act.

The swearing in of the National Council of Women (NCW) executives has been deferred to next month.

The event was scheduled to take place yeterday (Thursday 12 Nov) at Hodava Hotel, Port Moresby but was deferred to early next month due to “certain issue’’s.

Invited guests including women representatives, officers from the Department of Community Development, a representative from the United Nations and the media were turned away after waiting for more than two hours.

NCW president Theresa Jaintong apologised and explained that the swearing in will take place next month as they need to organise a magistrate to conduct the swearing in.
