NCD regional counting underway

Counting started at 10pm last night following a four-hour delay. This was due to issues raised by scrutineers regarding the presiding officer not present at the counting venue.

Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato officially opened the session at 6pm yesterday.

Count 11 commenced at 7am this morning.

After count 6, Powes Parkop was leading with 513 followed by Michael Kandiu with 281 in second place, Andy Bawa in third place with 232, fourth place was Jamie Maxtone Graham on 205 and coming in fifth was Kelaga Sine with 179 votes.

Gamato opens NCD counting

Speaking at the opening, Gamato called on counting officials to do their job diligently and honestly.

He further welcomed candidates, scrutineers, counting officials and media personnel to the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex.

Counting for the NCD was deferred from yesterday to today.

Meanwhile, counting for Moresby North-West has been set for tomorrow while Moresby South and Moresby North-East started today.

NCD counting to start at 6pm

On the other hand, counting for North West Open is expected to commence tomorrow.

This is according to the Election Manager Alwyn Jimmy.

The message was relayed to a huge crowd, including counting officials, in front of Rita Flynn complex today by Superintendent Operations, Fred Tundu.

Tundu addressed all queries and advised counting officials to be at the venue at the given time.

They will be issued vests on shift and allowed into the venue to take their positions.
