Kiponge told to stop misinterpreting court ruling

Minister Schnaubelt told the former MD that he must allow the rule of law to take its course.

Schnaubelt in a media conference held today clarified that the court ruling did not reinstate Kiponge but accorded liberty to apply to amend the proceedings to plead damages as a relief and litigate the question of damages.

Schnaubelt further condemned the actions of Kiponge for storming into the NAC office last week and demanded for his reinstatement as MD for National Airports Corporation.

NAC Eviction On Hold

NAC informed the media during a press conference today that they have heard from the government and have considered and accommodated their concerns.

NAC Managing Director, Rex Kiponge has appealed to the settlers that within this period, they will need to look at resettling somewhere saying that as landlord, NAC will still exercise its right to take back its land within the declared Aerodrome that is currently in the hands of the illegal settlers.

K100m to upgrade Madang airport

National Airport Corporation, Managing Director, Richard Yopo announced this recently.

In a breakfast meet with Madang Governor Peter Yama, Director Yopo said Madang airport upgrade work will commence shortly.

He said NAC is in the design stages and will commence work as soon as funds are available.

Yopo added that the upgrade and extension of the airport will cost about K100 million.

Governor Yama welcomed the news as a good news for the people of Madang.

Locals sabotage flight operations into Momote

Police in Manus told Loop PNG today, two men from the Rapatona LLG removed the office keys from Enock Kapet who is the safety officer, affecting flight operations into the airport because they were not happy with the awarding of the contract for the airport redevelopment.

Acting Provincial Police Commander, Senior Inspector David Yapu said the incident took place last Friday, March 31 which saw flights affected for three days.

Link PNG to fly to Jacquinot Bay airport

Chairman Sir Frederick Reiher made the announcement on Friday in Tokua airport during the unveiling of 'Rabaul' F100 aircraft.

The National Airport Corporation and the East New Britain Provincial Government signed and agreement on Thursday for the provision of technical advice which will be followed by a tender for the necessary airstrip upgrading.
