MSRL Introduces Interchange Cards

Moresby South Rugby Football League may be first to affiliate to PNG Rugby Football League to introduce the interchange cards system in its 2022 competition.

Southern Super League as second tier competition was first to introduce the interchange cards and HIA (Head Injury Assessment) and X cards in 2021 which had changed the level and standard of the competition.

MSRFL treasurer & coaching director, Bagelo Solien said it was high time that the interchange card system was used to control the number of players limited to only 10 (interchange).

MSRL Kickoff Date Set

Acting MSRL Chairman Nathan Andes all club presidents passed a resolution in their last meeting, that all affiliation fees must be settled before May 20, or face suspension from the 2022 competition.

Andes said, “The players and technical officials registrations still remains at K50 as per PNGRFL advice.”

He said coaches and team managers will be accredited with the national development officers to conduct refresher clinics soon.

It was also highlighted that all new and old clubs to have all three divisions A grade, U20 and Women’s this season.

Youths embrace competition

This was evident by the mass participation of teams both for the men and women competitions.

The semi state of the art JT Stadium at Kaugere has continued to provide a safe and user friendly environment and a more secure playing facility for young sportsmen and women within the Moresby Souths electorate.

This has lifted the moral of players, resulting in an improvement to the standard of the game, from what used to be park rugby, to a properly managed and sanctioned competition.
