Moresby South Rugby Football League

Andes Disappointed with lack of commitment

Andes said the MSRFL Executives held three meetings prior to the start of the 2022 MSRFL season regarding these participation requirements such as Clubs affiliations and players registration and due dates set. However to date majority of the clubs have failed to meet set due dates.

He said clubs were given 3 weeks to get their house in order and meet those requirements. This has lapsed.

Andes said if participation requirements are not met, the competition will continue next week with or without teams who failed to meet the requirements set by PNGRFL.

Female Participation

Murema says Moresby South Rugby Football League has improved on having equal participation in their competition where young women are also able to play rugby league.

He says having both the men and women compete goes to show how Moresby South Rugby Football League is advancing.

“Here in Moresby South we recognize our female counter parts in Sports as we practice gender equality” said Murema.

He said the competition over the last 8 years has produced orchids and hunters that have represented the country well in international matches.

Three to join Hunters team in 2017 season

Bension Lapun of Warako Storms, Junior Low of Joyce Bay Roosters and Goratove Ori of Sabama raiders were the three players selected.

Chairman of the Moresby South Rugby Football League Brian Murema yesterday commended the players on their achievement and urged that Moresby South League has continued to produce a number of players to the National and through to international level.

“As the Chairman, on behalf of Moresby South Rugby Football League, I would like to congratulate our three players for making it into Hunters train-on squad,” Murema said.
