EHP vows to support government services

Acting administrator Samson Akunai made this known during an end of year parade in Goroka today.

He said next year, he will allocate some funds to look after those core functions, despite the fact that it’s a government obligation.

"They are within our province and they are providing government services to us," he said.

Member for Unggai Bena and Minister for Lands and Physical Planning, Benny Allan, also shared similar sentiments.

Bogus claims flooding EHP administration: Allan

Benny Allan, who is also the Unggai Bena MP, said most of those claims are bogus and should not be entertained.

"There have been so many unnecessary claims flooding the administration. Why is that?

"Those funds could be used for both national and provincial functions,” said the Minister.

“I am ashamed of such claims and we need to stop this nonsense.”

He said the recent impasse has caused a lot of instability in the province and the extra claims have caused a lot of uncertainty in the administration.

District treasurers are the most corrupt public servants, claims MP

Minister for Lands and Physical Planning and Unggai Bena MP Benny Allan claims district teasury officials are colluding with contractors and outsiders without the knowledge of the designated Section 32 officer; the one determining the payment for the services rendered.

Allan highlighted this during the presentation of his 2015 DSIP acquittal reports to the Department of Implementaiton and Rural Development (DIRD) at the Parliament House on Thursday.
