Call for collective gov’t approach

Senior Member of Parliament and former Minister for Finance, Sir John Pundari claimed that the Government's priorities are misguided hence, nothing in tangible has been achieved so far.

“Let’s reset, refocus and address one challenge at a time. Patching the bleeding economy is more paramount now more than ever.

Sir John has called for a collective government approach by having a relook at priorities including cost-saving measures. He said this includes cutting back on overseas travels with a large entourage, and creating new ministerial portfolios.

Govt accounts open for 2020

Minister for Finance, Renbo Paita, announced this in a press conference today, saying all government offices should have started work and public servants are not to give holiday excuses.

Additionally, Secretary of Finance, Dr Ken Ngangan thanked all staff who helped out in the close of accounts for 2019 and made mention of the 2019 cheques.

Over K300m in royalties in bank: Minister

Minister for Finance and Tari-Pori MP, James Marape, confirmed the amount in a press conference in Port Moresby recently.

After launching the Landowner Beneficiaries Identification (LOBID) exercise in Hela on Wednesday, Finance Minister James Marape and Petroleum Minister Fabian Pok have assured the landowners that their royalty is still being kept at the Central Bank awaiting the completion of the LOBID exercise.

Minister Marape said the Government is ready to pay the landowners but the onus is now on them to get together and identify their land.
