Michael Dua

Simbu Governor hails Olam

Dua described Olam as a “hero for Simbu”.

Speaking from the provincial capital of Simbu in Kundiawa, Governor Dua said Olam now joins the list of legends who hailed from the Sinasina-Yongomugl electorate, commonly abbreviated ‘SSY’.

Dua said the 26-year-old joins in the ranks of big names such as the Late David Tinemau, PNG Kumul number 43, and the late Bal Numapo, Kumul number 85, who passed away on August 1, 2020 in Kundiawa.

Chimbu Governor given heroic welcome

Celebrations from Goroka through to Chimbu over the long weekend followed Dua’s second declaration by the Waigani National Court as the duly elected governor for Chimbu, after a judicial recount was ordered from a successful election petition filed by former Governor Noah Kool.

Following a judicial recount on Friday May 24, 2019, the National court declared Michael Dua as the Governor for Chimbu.

He was given a heroic welcome by the people of Eastern Highlands and Simbu when he touched down at Goroka airport last Friday.

Simbu to get new fire station

This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding which will pave way for strategising and ground work to take place towards the building of a new fire station at Kundiawa.

The MoU was signed at the Fire Service headquarters at Waigani, Port Moresby, last week.

Chief Fire Officer Bill Roo said the singing of the MoU has built a bridge for the fire service and the Chimbu Provincial Government to work together towards building this vital infrastructure.
