Update: 70 evacuated as Colima volcano spews ash in western Mexico

The volcano began erupting on Thursday and has become increasingly active, leading officials to relocate people from Yerbabuena and other communities in the municipality of Comala.

Civil protection officials described the volcano's movements as "atypical," a kind of activity not seen since it underwent a strong eruption in 1913.

Civil Protection officials said Saturday the residents were taken to a temporary shelter. Residents of other communities were evacuating voluntarily.

The department reported that 2 inches (5 centimeters) of ash had fallen on Yerbabuena.

Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden said Friday during a news conference that one of the teens has confessed but that the investigation is ongoing.

The teens arrested Thursday range in age from 14 to 17 years old.

Trump files $500 million lawsuit as pageant woes mount

The suit against Univision for dropping the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants claims breach of contract, defamation and First Amendment violations, and contends Univision turned on him because it supports Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton for president.

In a statement, Univision called Trump's lawsuit "factually false and legally ridiculous." It said it will "continue to fight against Mr. Trump's ongoing efforts to run away from the derogatory comments he made."

Spanish royals in Mexico on 1st state visit to Latin America

King Felipe VI said Monday that the ties between Mexico and Spain go far beyond political and commercial connections. Spain is the second largest investor in Mexico behind the United States.

Felipe was in Mexico in December to attend the Iberoamerican Summit in Veracruz, but this is his first state visit since assuming the throne last year.

The king was scheduled to address the Mexican Senate on Tuesday and also meet with business people. On Wednesday, Felipe and Queen Letizia are scheduled to travel to the northern state of Zacatecas.

Gov. Cuomo: Inmates had sights on Mexico but ride backed out

David Sweat, 35, was running from a state trooper Sunday afternoon when he was shot twice in the torso less than 2 miles from the Canadian border. Sweat was in serious condition Monday at a hospital.

Cuomo told the Capitol Pressroom radio program that Sweat was starting to relay information to police about his escape from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora on June 6 with fellow inmate Richard Matt, who was killed Friday afternoon.
