Accident Puts Boy In Critical Condition

Madang Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said the officers were doing motorist patrol when they happened upon the accident scene and took the boy to the hospital. The bus in question was taken by police.

In another accident, a vehicle that was driven by a Chinese businessmen, went off road at Naru Mountain after the vehicle experienced a mechanical fault. Rubiang said there were no casualties.

Youths conduct mass theft, one caught

Two of them, one a teenager, was caught by security guards at Ela Emporium. The other fourteen escaped in a waiting boat.

Madang police commander acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang said the incident occurred at around 7:45am today.

Rubiang added that out of all the stolen items, only two music devices were found beside a nearby store.

“I want the public to assist by doing civilian arrest on such criminals so they can provide information to arrest others who are at large. Public must also help,” Rubiang said.

He said police are investigating the matter.

Police yet to find Hit-and-Run driver

According to police, the deceased is believed to be a betelnut buyer, caught in the hit-and-run accident, at Midiba along Madang’s North Coast road.

Madang Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said police responded to the incident and collected eye witness statements. Police also transported the man to the Modilon General Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rubiang warned people living along the main roads, to not to sit on roadsides or conduct business there.

Investigation into the incident continues.

Madang town commended

The PPC said Madang Town is quiet at the moment as the meeting is underway.

He urged the residents to continue to maintain that.

The said Madang Town residents have cleaned up the town and whole heartedly welcomed the guests.

He said the town right now is full of security personals as well both police and defence force covering the land, air and sea.

Those who step out of line will be dealt with these security forces.

 

 

Men attempted to steal district vehicles: MP

The MP said seven men were arrested by Madang Police on Friday (January 26) when they stormed into the district head office and “illegally” took two of its Toyota LandCruiser.

The vehicles were earlier confiscated by the district authority and impounded at the office.

Uguro said the suspects were chased by Police and later apprehended.

Police also took the vehicles.    

Last year, the Usino-Bundi District Development Authority (UBDDA) made a decision to recoup all district assets, including vehicles and machineries.

Search still on for missing constable

The constable was with two other officers, including the late sergeant Willie Marita, in the FOX 01 (zero-one) LandCruiser when they were caught in the overflowing flood waters at the Tapo Fjord crossing around 7 that evening.

The missing constable and another officer had both accompanied their senior ranked officer to Negeri in Tapo to attend to a reported hold up.

The Fox 01 vehicle was caught in the overflowing river caused by the heavy downpour on Monday night.

Madang police recover missing Sargent’s body

The policeman’s body was found after he was swept away by flood at the Tapo Fjord River crossing, in Madang province on Tuesday evening.

Information is still sketchy at the moment; however the Sargent was reported to be with another constable when their vehicle was swept in the overflowing river, caused by the heavy downpour around 7pm.

Reports states that they were in the Fox 01 police vehicle attending to a reported hold up at Negri when they were carried away by flood waters during an attempt to cross over Tapo Fjord crossing.

​New police vehicles for Madang

The vehicles were presented by Provincial Administrator Daniel Aloi, in response to the recent petition issued by landowners and residents of Sisiak over escalated crime.

Aloi also promised a police post for Sisiak, and road sealing after the general elections, while Water PNG committed free water and accommodation for police officers to live and monitor the area of crime.

Provincial Police Commander, Jacob Singura, said the vehicles come at a time of need, when the country is full on into election activities.

Madang police on alert

The convoy of police vehicles with personnel around Madang displayed the strength and logistics which will be used during their festive period operations.

Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Jacob Singura told Loop PNG that the show coincides with their festive period operations as well.

"Our operations have just commenced after the show of strength. We have begun our operations and will go through to the New Year.

"Our main focus is to provide security for all our residents and the travelling public in and around Madang,” he said.
