Brothers Arrested For Murder

The two suspects are being detained at the Jomba police station. The deceased was identified as Greg Wangi.

Madang Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubinag said according to the police report, brothers Emanuel and Lany Langu from Wosera`s Kwan Soma Village in East Sepik, committed the offence at Wangi’s place of residence, during an argument.

Murder Cases On The Rise In Madang

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said most of these deaths were murder cases while two were traffic accidents. He said the traffic accidents happened on Sunday April 17 and Friday April 15 along the section of the highway between Madang and Ramu.

Students Flee Home In Search Of School

Learning for the students has been disrupted due to the continuous fight between the Hetwara gang and Gwarawon Resistance Group in Rai Coast`s  Nankina Valley, Madang Province.

Police officers who are on the ground in Tibu Village, said some students left for Saidor, others for Madang town, and Lae, Morobe Province. Police say their parents are concerned about their future and made the decision to send their children away with relatives so that they can continue learning, undisrupted.

Nankina fight displaces families

Madang Police reported the incident from the Rai Coast District, Madang Province.

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said the Hetwara gang is still fighting with a resistance group in Nankina Valley. The PPC received reports that two Hetwara gang members were shot and seriously wounded by the resistance group from Taip Village on Wednesday 6th April 2022. After receiving this report, another resistance group from Mibu descended to Kwovan where the two victims are being nursed by their relatives.

Wanted Criminal Shot And Wounded

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said the suspect was allegedly armed with a factory made pistol and was at Miliok Street at New town when police were informed. He said that when Police went to a house to arrest him, the suspect resisted and tried to escape. That was when he was shot and wounded. 

PPC Rubiang said the suspect was then transported to the hospital and is now seeking treatment.

Father Of One Beheaded

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said according to police reports, the deceased was chased at round 6pm by a group or armed men into some bushes where he was murdered and left to die. The suspects are yet to be identified.

The PCC Ereh villagers had been seeing a group of men moving around the village before the death of Meta. He said the men left the village before police arrived at Ereh.  The PPC said police officers from Madang and Walium went to the scene and took the particulars of the deceased. The matter is being investigated.

Students arrested for damaging bus

Madang Police alleged that after consuming liquor, the students damaged the bus while it was doing it`s normal PMV run along the North Coast highway. Madang police commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said police were alerted of the incident by members of the public, who had blocked off the road at Sek, following the stoning.

Member of Mobile Squad 13 and the local police officers responded and arrested five suspects. PPC Rubiang said the suspects were then brought to Jomba police station detained, pending police investigation.

Police Warn Students

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said students from Kusbau and Lutheran Day Primary schools, and Tusbab and Good Shepherd Secondary schools have been fighting each other, causing a disturbance in learning for every other student. PPC Rubiang said school holidays are approaching and parents and the guardians must advise their children not to engage in school fights.

Madang police ready for election

Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang, they started the route march last month. They will continue this exercise every Wednesday’s and Saturday’s until deployment. PPC Rubiang said they are not fully equipped, but officers must be physically fit to walk long distances to ensure police presence is felt and seen during the election.

Murder Suspects In Custody

On Saturday 29 January 2022, two pastors and a student, were traveling upstream in a boat when they were attacked by the pirates who were armed with homemade guns. According to police officers, all three travelers were killed and their bodies discarded into the Ramu River. They were later discovered by local villagers.

Police officers who went to retrieve the bodies, told village leaders to identify those involved and bring them in. On Sunday 13 February, 2022, seven of them were handed over to the police.
